For this exhibition at Ugly Duck, London, Maggini has interpreted how seduction is often connected with the desire to be different from what one is.
These two pairs of Ibrid-shoes are an invite to reflect on the role that ornaments have.
Heeled shoes are ornaments that have become iconic in the game of human seduction. Maggini plays with the fetishes of contemporary society, in this case has thought about the power we give to possessions of bringing us a special capacity to attract. We put this iconic object on a pedestal, even if they are emptied of meaning. Discovering this emptiness should make us reflect that we should take them off of the pedestal or… make the pedestal bigger.
